As Christmas Nears
As Christmas nears the lights turn bright,
songs fill the air, children's faces glow,
folks hurry to and fro, warming fires crackle
in the night, cookies to be made, and holiday
cakes await to be baked.
As Christmas nears the tree goes up, decorations
are placed, candles lit, incense burns, packages
wrapped and hidden away, their secrets
not to display.
As Christmas nears good cheer is heard, friends
and relatives arrive to stay, their leave to
take on another day, a buzz is heard, voices
join in harmony, best wishes
are conveyed.
As Christmas nears, stuffing is made, chest-
nuts roasted, cranberries , pumpkins, and
yams cook upon the stove, a sweet smell
sweeps swiftly throughout the air.
As Christmas nears, peace prevails, blessings
counted, folks missing given pause, excite-
ment stirs the soul, for the time
will soon be here.
As Christmas nears a hush befalls,
the bells begin their toll, the carolers to
be heard, songs delivered on high, the stars
shine bright, the sky is silent with the sight,
..... for the new born
King is delivered this night.
