Billy Boy
Where have you gone my Billy Boy, you were here for such a short stay, with gentle hand and spirit strong you touched me so guiding me along the way on each and every day.
You soared where never I might go, you led the way, you are the hero I will never be, my Billy Boy.
All you were able to give, you passed to me, to carry forth, to share along life's journey's way.
Your gift of humbleness, the heart of soulfulness, the tenderness of care to show, all became the legacy to sow in every way.
You rose above others giving much more than they, not able to match the spirit you shone. A candle not lit, a light not there, you carried the torch and brought the many from darkness and despair, giving hope and care when none was there.
The souls who saw you now wish you here. Missing your smile, the humorous jest, the voice of simple counsel, they too now wonder, where have you gone, and who shall come to take your place, my Billy Boy.
If I could fly, I'd soar as you, there where eagles go, sharing my inner soul to take under wing those who have lost the way, and all this I would do as you could, if only I had your spirit soul.
Have I done all you've asked, my Billy Boy, or across the distant paths have I failed the test to let you down, if that be so, forgive me, my Billy Boy.
In mournful cry I need to say..."I miss you so... my dear dad, my Billy Boy.
In memory of my father,
