One of the choices you will make when picking a good sofa or recliner would be what fabric to pick for the sofa. The decision could be affected by (or completely be based on) factors such as pets and kids, room color, frequency of use, or required maintenance. Here are some tips that may help you out when deciding.
Regular Fabric - Fabrics that require high maintenance such as silk should only be put in areas that are not commonly used unless you have the time and budget to maintain the fabric. Unlike smooth fabrics, textured ones show less wear and tear after constant use. If you like smooth ones and have the resources to maintain it then go ahead and use them, if not then I suggest picking textured fabric for your Home Elegance sofa. Leather - Leather lasts long but the downside is it can be hard to clean. Some solvents are also known to damage leather so be wary of those. The good thing with leather is that nowadays leather sofa colors are no longer limited to tan or black so you can pick one that would go well with the colors of the room you are going to place it in. You can actually use soap to clean your Home Elegance leather sofa. Put soap on a soft cloth and use it to wipe the dirt off. Don't soak the leather too much or it may cause harm to the leather. Do not rinse it after washing as well. Choose a High Quality soap that would help moisturize the leather. You can also use a good quality leather conditioner. For specific brands, I suggest you look at different products and get feedback before deciding on what to use.
There are water-based cleaners that are available in the market specifically designed for cleaning leather. However, not all of those are compatible with your sofa. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to choose which one would go well with yours so what I would suggest is to try them first in an inconspicuous area of your sofa. If it doesn't cause a stain or damage your leather in any way then go ahead and apply it on the whole thing.
Recliners, unlike non-motion furniture, have movable parts so choosing leather for the cover need to be looked into carefully. The bad thing about leather is that it stretches. The moving parts of the recliner may cause the leather to stretch and you'll end up with wrinkles on the leather.
Microfiber - Microfibers have grown increasingly popular since and it deserves to be so. Microfibers are easy to maintain and can be very attractive. It can also withstand a good amount of punishment so if you have kids or pets then it is a good choice.
I mentioned that microfiber can be easy to clean and maintain, however, microfiber requires some special cleaning equipment. Most cleaning products actually have some sort of fabric softener or bleaching material included in their formula. Those actually cause microfiber to break down or clog the material making it less effective over time. For general cleaning though, you can simply use a few drops of mild detergent mixed with water to wipe the dirt off your sofa. You can also use a vacuum cleaner if you want but wiping the dirt off would be a better option in my opinion.

leather vs. cotton welding jackets?
The main question I have, are leather welding jackets too hot for summer use in Louisiana. I don't want to spend $100 dollars on one and not wear it. My cotton welding shirts catch fire too often. Would a miller combo welding jacket (cotton and leather mixed) be a good alternative? Miller also sells a leather shirt protector for this jacket.
A cotton "Welding jacket" would be better. Or you could get a set of leather sleeves with a bib. The back is open and will keep you cool except your arms. I have worn them in areas that were in the 100 degrees temps and survived, you will sweat a lot but you don't get burnt up by the spatter.
